Bamboo placed inside a test tube was locally irradiated with infrared radiation, and its behavior during heating was observed.
The irradiated area rapidly increased in temperature, leading to the thermal decomposition of the bamboo and the generation of volatile components.
The generated volatile components were cooled and condensed due to the temperature gradient inside the test tube, and their deposition as tar-like and oily substances on the inner wall was observed.
This experiment demonstrates the visualization of the thermal decomposition process of bamboo and the behavior of its decomposition products through non-contact, localized heating.
