Sublimation of Ammonium Chloride in a Test Tube by Infrared Heating

Friday August 8th, 2025 HEAT-TECH info

A halogen point heater was used to locally irradiate ammonium chloride crystals in a test tube with infrared light.
As the heating progressed, the ammonium chloride did not liquefy but sublimated, producing white smoke.
This video visualizes the sublimation behavior of ammonium chloride and the effect of localized infrared heating.
