Infrared Local Heating for Rapid Melting of Zinc Plate

Using a halogen point heater, infrared radiation is locally applied to a zinc plate to observe the rapid heating and melting process. The highly concentrated infrared energy allows the irradiated area to reach its melting temperature quickly, causing the zinc to melt rapidly due to its relatively low melting point.

During heating, white fumes are generated as surface oxides decompose and zinc vapor forms, providing a visible indication of the extremely fast temperature rise. This demonstration highlights the responsiveness of infrared local heating on metallic materials and the high thermal concentration achievable with this technique.
