Using a halogen point heater, we applied localized infrared irradiation to an iron-rich Campo del Cielo meteorite and observed its melting process. The highly focused infrared beam rapidly heated the irradiated area, initiating melting gradually from the surface inward. This video visually documents the thermal response of the meteorite’s metallic components, showcasing the high-temperature heating capability and responsiveness of localized infrared heating.
