Using a halogen point heater, localized infrared radiation was applied to the iron-rich Odessa meteorite to observe the melting process.
The focused infrared energy rapidly raised the temperature of the irradiated area, causing progressive surface melting.
This video visually documents the thermal response of the meteorite’s metal content and demonstrates the high heating capability and responsiveness of localized infrared heating.
