Melting of Citric Acid in a Test Tube by Infrared Heating

A halogen point heater was used to locally irradiate citric acid crystals in a test tube with infrared light.
As the heating progressed, the citric acid gradually melted and turned into a transparent liquid.
This video visualizes the melting behavior of citric acid near its melting point and the effect of localized infrared heating.
